The previous king and his counsin Ghiazuddin was blinded by Taghlachin. Shamsuddin Daud Shah was raised to throne by Taghlachin. Shamsuddin Daud Shah's mother was a maid servant of Taghlachin's mother. With the support of Shams ud din's mother, Taghlachin became the regent of the kingdom. Due to this degradation of the royal family, Ghiaz ud din's cousins Firuz and Ahmad over powered Taghlachin. Shams ud din was dethroned and Feruz Khan ascended the throne as sultan Taj-ud-din Firuz Shah on 16 November 1397.
