THE ABHIDAMMA PITAKA
The profound philosophy of Buddha.
Investigates the mind and the matter, to understand the things as they truely are.
Contains the regulations on life in monastic order.
3 section among only 2 are important.
(i) Mahavagga-
(ii) Cullavagga
(iii) Parivara- an insignificant composition by a Ceylonese monk.
Among the non-cononical literature (ecclesiastical) Milindapanho, Dipavamsa and Mahavamsa are important.
The later two are the great chronicles of the Celyone.
