Gunadya

Gunadya started his career as a poet during the reign of Kuntala Satakarni. His association with Hala is famous in Indian History.

Sharva Varma was his contemporary. Sharva Varma vowed to teach grammer to Hala, the 17th King of Satavahana dynasty in a short span of time. Gunadya challenged his saying that it is impossible to teach in  such a short span of time. Gunadya lost the bet and as he said earliar, Gunadya wrote ' Brihatkatha ' in a new grammer named ' Paishachi Prakrit '.

Somadeva's 'Katha Sarithsagara ' mentions regarding the challenge between Sharva Varma and Gunadya.

The lead character in the ' Brihatkata " was 'Kubhera' who is also known as ' Nara Vaahana Datta ', the one who has man as his vehicle.
