Mahmud Begarha
One of the greatest rulers of 3ujarat, he
ruled for a long
period of
52 years (ad 1459–1511) and defeated many of his neighbours and
checked the
expansion of the Portuguese on the Gujarat coast. The Italian
traveller,
Varthima, makes a mention of Mahmud’s great appetite in his
records.
