the power of the Rohillas or Ruhelas
in
Rohilkhand lying at the base of the Himalayas to the north-west of Awadh.
In 1774
they were defeated and their last ruler, Hafiz Rahamat Khan, was
murdered by
the Nawab of Awadh with the help of the British.
